Thanks Desi!

As the great buda says: "see no evil...hear no evil...speak no evil"

Some of the highlights of our trip include a visit from the Minister of Health
We made the most of our extra time including a trip to San Salvador....

6 of us were stranded! Eventually, we all returned home safe.

Adios for now! While some of us will be leaving on saturday, the rest of us will have to wait out the storm.

After a wonderful paella and boat ride, we ended our adventure with a celebration. We would like to thank the Rotary for hosting us and inviting us back next year.
This is Reina, last year we corrected one foot and now she returns for the other.

We're not only Healing The Children, Kevin is also healing the piglets.

Due to hurricane Ike, those of us traveling through Houston will be stranded here another day or two. Luckily, the weather is good and the company is even better!

The Crew

We have seen some interesting pathology this week...in all we helped a total of 25 children and 3 adults surgically and an additional 40 plus children with functional bracing and supports.

A few more smiling faces!
Another hard day at work. Time flys when your having fun.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

All the hard work pays off when we see smiling faces like these!
This is where it all happens. Things are primative here...its a good thing we brought our own supplies!
Today we operated on 7 children. We were on the bus by 7:30am and arrived back at the hotel at 8:30pm. It was a long but worthwhile day.

We ended a hard days work at a local restaurant enjoying the famous El Salvadorian papusas. Yum!
There will be many obsticals and challenges along the way, but we are confident we will overcome them.

Due to our team of skilled surgeons, nurses, OR staff and volunteers, children like this will have a more functional life.

We screened 88 children and scheduled over 20 surgical cases today. The children who were not candidates for surgical correction were fitted for functional braces and supports.

Staying by the beach is nice, however, we pay the price with the 1 hour drive to the hospital each day.
Yesterday we checked in to the Comfort Inn at Costa Del Sol. Accomodations are nice with ocean front rooms for everyone!
